Day 10

We left the campsite at Harding Lake and headed straight for North Pole to the SantaLand store. We bought a few knick-knacks.
We went through Fairbanks and headed for Anchorage down the Parks Highway along the Chulitna River. At one point above the river we stopped for a break. While at the pullout I thought I heard Harleys coming, then it sounded more like a train and all of a sudden an army helicopter went right by us down the river. I had my camera around my neck, but never had a chance. Jane caught it with hers.
Anchorage has big, beautiful mountains on both sides of her. After getting lost in the big city a couple of times we headed toward Whittier and the scenery was even more amazing. Driving on the Seward Highway along Turnagain Arm was pretty amazing. The railway goes with you to Whittier.
